Mr. John Noble Harris, Jr., age 64, passed away on Sunday afternoon, May 31, 2015, at his home in Oglethorpe. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 6, from the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St. Billy Goudeau (John's hero) will officiate, with Doug Gilmore (John's close friend) assisting. Friends may call at any time at the home of Diane Harris, 316 County Line Road in Oglethorpe, or at the home of Jason Harris, 208 County Line Road in Oglethorpe. Born April 26, 1951 in Sumter County, he was a son of the late John N. Harris, Sr. and Barbara Jean Duvall Harris. Mr. Harris obtained a degree in automotive technology at South Georgia Technical College, and was retired as a maintenance supervisor at Davidson Exterior Trim (Textron) in Americus. He loved growing tomatoes and spending time with his grandchildren. John lived for his grandchildren. They were his entire heart!! Survivors include his wife, Diane Albritton Harris of Oglethorpe; one son & daughter-in-law, Jason & Lisa Harris of Oglethorpe; one daughter & son-in-law, Jennifer & Chad Hoffman of Ellaville; three grandchildren: Storm Hoffman of Ellaville, Jaxon Harris of Oglethorpe, and Axel Harris of Oglethorpe; mother-in-law, Betty McChargue of Perry; step-mother, Martha Kate Harris of Americus; one brother, Johnathan Harris of Americus; one sister & brother-in-law, Joan & Allen Erkhart of Americus; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Master Sergeant John Terrell & Debra Terrell of Perry, Kelly Stockdale & Beverly Stockdale of Louisville, KY, and Bobbi McChargue of Louisville, KY; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to United Hospice of Cordele, 708 E 16th Avenue, Cordele, GA 31015.
