Native Sumter County, GA Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather William Murray (Bill) Hendricks, Jr., 70, of Maxville, Florida, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 15, 2009 after a courageous battle with Carcinoid cancer. He was born to the late William Murray (Mr. Bill) Hendricks, Sr. and Cordelia Passmore Hendricks on September 9, 1938 near Plains, Georgia. He was predeceased by his step granddaughter, Shelby Brooke Williamson. Mr. Hendricks is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Jane Reeves Hendricks. He was retired and loved planting his garden, farming wildlife food plots, reading his Bible, and spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of Long Branch Baptist Church. Bill had a great passion to share the love of Jesus with everyone, and in his last days was still just as passionate. Also left to cherish his memory are 4 precious children, Denise Jefferson (Glenn), David Hendricks (Lori), Jeff Hendricks (Missi), and Judy Myers (Lewis Williamson); 9 grandchildren, Chrissy Vause, Jenny Willis (Dan), Laura Hendricks, Davie Hendricks, Travis Myers, Derek Hendricks, Kyle Hendricks, Heather Hendricks, and Kelli Myers; 2 step grandchildren, Shawnee and Summer Williamson; 2 great-grandchildren, Aubrey Willis and Dylan Vause. He is also survived by his brother, John C. Hendricks, Sr. (Margaret); 2 Uncles, Joe Hendricks & James Passmore; 1 aunt, Edna Mae Hendricks; 1 niece, Lisa Wesley (Keith); 1 nephew, John C. Hendricks, Jr. (Laurie), and a host of family members and friends. The family would like to thank Dr. Alberto Castiel and his wonderful staff, the Doctors and Nurses of Orange Park Medical Center, and Haven Hospice Care. They would also like to thank Dr. Harold Hudson, his prayer partners, and the many friends for their love and support during this difficult time. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 21, 2009 in the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee Street, Americus, Georgia 31709, with the Rev. Harry Varnadoe and Rev. Bill McLeod officiating. The family will receive family and friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Hancock Funeral Home. Interment and procession will follow at the Rylander Cemetery, Plains, GA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice/Charity of your choice.
