Doris P. Christian

Mrs. Doris P. Christian, age 91, passed away on Monday afternoon, September 28, 2015, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. Graveside services are planned for 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 1, at Sunset Memorial Gardens. A native of Sumter County, she was born February 18, 1924 to Willis Sylvester Phillips and Essie Stringfellow Phillips. Mrs. Christian was a member of Christian Fellowship Baptist Church and was a home maker. She was preceded in death in 2011 by her husband, Hubert Christian. Survivors include two sons: Hugh Christian and Cary Christian, Sr., both of Americus; grandchildren: Cary Christian, Jr. and Linda, and their children, Cary Ryals Christian and Collins Christian of Americus, and Cynthia Lynn Boatwright and Scott, and their children, Brett Boatwright and Carolina Boatwright of Panama City, FL; and two sisters: Nellie Jennings and Marie Griffin, both of Plains.
