Mrs. Marlys Tripp Williams, 84, passed away on Sunday morning, March 8, 2009, at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10, in the Plains Baptist Church with Rev. Don Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Lebanon Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as active pallbearers and members of the Bethany Sunday School class are requested to serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Hancock Funeral Home from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. on Monday, March 9. At other times, friends may call at the family residence in Plains. Memorial contributions may be made to the Plains Baptist Church or to any favorite charity. Born April 10, 1924, in Porter, MN, Mrs. Williams was a daughter of the late William Darius Tripp and Emma Oakland Tripp. Her husband of 55 years, Oscar Albert Williams, Jr., preceded her in death on October 9, 2003. First and foremost, Mrs. Williams was a loving wife and mother. She was a member of the Plains Baptist Church and the Bethany Sunday School class. She was a faithful worker in the church, especially in its Sunday School and Bible School activities. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Chuck Rumsey of Cordele; two sons and daughters-in-law, Al and Cathy Williams and Larry and Sharon Williams, all of Plains; a sister, Helen Felix of Greenwood, Indiana; a brother, James D. Tripp of Minneapolis, Minnesota; a brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Henry and BeBe Williams of Woodbine and Virginia Williams of Plains; grandchildren Kelly and Jeff Kight of Fitzgerald, David Rumsey of Denver, CO, Daniel and Katie Rumsey of Albany, Nick and Meghan Williams of Ellerslie, Dustin and Jilliann Williams of Plains, Oscar Williams, IV and Laura of Grayson, Shane and Paige Short of Frisco, TX, and Brian and Ginny Short of Cumming; great grandchildren Kasey Kight and Landon Kight of Fitzgerald, Katherine Short, Landry Short, and Madeline Short, all of Frisco, TX, O. A. Williams, V of Grayson, Gracie Short and Christian Short, both of Cumming, and Madison Williams of Ellerslie.
