Anita Evans Dodson

Mrs. Anita Evans Dodson, age 95, passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2015, at Lillian Carter Health & Rehab Center in Plains. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 29, at 2:00 PM, from the graveside at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Rev. Brooks Partain will officiate. Born July 15, 1920 in Tifton, she was a daughter of the late Leonard Newton Evans, Sr. and Ruby Pearl Bagley Evans. Mrs. Dodson was a homemaker and was a member of Plains Baptist Church, where she was a church volunteer. She had also worked for nine years as a nurse at the Americus and Sumter County Hospital, and as a substitute teacher and teachers' aid in the Sumter County School System. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chappell Dodson, Sr.; by an infant daughter, Juanita Dodson; by a sister, Frances Evans; and by a brother, Leonard N. Evans, Jr. Survivors include one daughter, Beth Thomas (Dan) of Plains; three sons: Chappell Dodson, Jr. (Lena) of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, A.C. Dodson, II (Diane) of Rome, GA, and David E. Dodson (Linda) of Rome, GA; and she was blessed with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
