Mrs. Cheryl Lynn Stephens Horton, 46, passed away at her residence on Hooks Mill Road early Friday morning, March 13, 2009. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17, in the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home with interment to follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Tony Morris will officiate. Born April 10, 1962, in Barnesville, Mrs. Horton was a daughter of Mrs. Lorene Grant Stephens of Americus and the late Troy O. B. Stephens. She was a Baptist by faith, and worked for twelve or thirteen years as the manager of the Subway Shop at Express Lane. The family will receive friends at Hancock Funeral Home from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 16. At other times, friends may call at the family residence on Hooks Mill Road. Survivors, in addition to her mother, include her husband, James Windell Horton of Americus; a son, Larry Whitney Stephens of Americus; a sister, Patricia Scott and her husband, Frankie, of Americus; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenneth and Linda Stephens of Americus, Jerry and Shelby Stephens of Montezuma, Tim and Pam Stephens of Oglethorpe, and David and Mary Stephens of Hephzibah; and a number of nieces and nephews.
