Ollie Belle Hobgood

Ms. Ollie Belle Hobgood, age 90, passed away on Tuesday evening, March 15, 2016, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. Funeral services are planned for 11:00 AM on Friday, March 18, from the graveside at Lebanon Cemetery in Plains with Rev. Jimmie Hobbs officiating. The following gentlemen are asked to serve as pallbearers: Lijah Hobgood, Michael Broadhurst, Wesley Smith, Chad Smith, Buddy Hobgood, Gene Hobgood, Roger Hobgood, Darrell Hobgood, and Jody Smith. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, March 17, between the hours of 5:00 and 7:00 PM at Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St. Born February 20, 1926 in Moultrie, Ms. Hobgood was a daughter of the late Lark C. Hobgood, Sr. and Rosa Lee Greene Hobgood. A member of Plains Baptist Church, she was retired after 25 years employment as a bookkeeper at Turpin Dodge. Survivors include one sister, Hazel Hobgood Smith of Americus; three sisters-in-law: Marjorie Hobgood and Barbara Hobgood, both of Americus, and Lavonia Hobgood of Tifton; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and by three brothers and one half-brother. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Plains Baptist Church, P.O. Box 198, Plains, GA 31780.
