Mrs. Alice W. Clanton, age 91, passed away on Friday morning, March 18, 2016, at Perfect Care. Funeral services are planned for 3:00 PM on Sunday, March 20, at Central Baptist Church with Rev. Hugh DeLoach and Rev. Reid Wylie officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Members of the Kathleen Gardner Sunday School class are asked to serve as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be held at the church before the service, beginning at 2:00 PM. Friends may call at other times at the home of Edwina & Tom Wylie, 158 Woodvalley Road in Americus. A native of Sumter County, Mrs. Clanton was born December 20, 1924, a daughter of the late Charles Russell Weeks and Elise Chappell Weeks. She was a homemaker and dearly loved her family. Mrs. Clanton was a very active and devoted member of Central Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, Ralph Lorin Clanton; her daughter, Bonnie McSpadden; her grandson, Dallas Freeman; a sister and brother-in-law, Wilma and Bobby Jones; a brother, Charles R. Weeks, Jr.; and two sisters-in-law: Shirley McNeely and Betty Moyd. Survivors include her son, Ralph L. "Bucky" Clanton, III; her granddaughter, Elise Evans (Jon) of Smiths Station, AL; two great-grandchildren: Dylan Holbrook and Mason Evans; a brother, Wallace Weeks (Gloria) of Niceville, FL; two sisters-in-law: Jeanne Prosser of Missouri and Betty Everett Weeks of Niceville, FL; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
