Mr. Porter L. Clark, 88, 1660 Campers Haven Road, Vienna, died on June 17, 2009. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, in the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home with interment to follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Rev. Curtis Kirksey will officiate. The family will receive friends at Hancock Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 19. Born May 29, 1921, in Knoxville, TN, Mr. Clark was a son of the late Jessie and Minnie Clark and the husband of the late Annie Stubbs Clark. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II, and spent 18 months as a German prisoner of war. He was a member of the Bakerfield Baptist Church in Dooly County. He was an electrician and a former employee of Wise Electric Service in Americus. Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Taylor of Vienna; two step-daughters, Glenda Phillips of Mauk, and Shirley Whitley and her husband, James, of Columbus; four grandchildren, Wendy Harrison, David Taylor, Warren Taylor and Sherman Anthony, Jr.; and four great grandchildren. His step-son, Sherman Anthony, Sr., preceded him in death on March 1, 2002. Hancock Funeral Home, 427 South Lee Street, Americus, GA, is in charge of arrangements.
