Bobby Edward Scott

Mr. Bobby Edward Scott, age 83, passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2016, at his home at Sumter City. Funeral services are planned for 2:00 PM Saturday, September 17, from the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St., with Rev. Brooks Partain officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The following gentlemen are asked to serve as pallbearers: Pete E. Scott, Jr, Jonathan L. Scott, Richard Converse, Hunter Caraway, Patrick Sparks, and Jimmy Scott. Honorary pallbearers include Bubba Scott, Buck Scott, Christopher Saint, and Ed Scott. The family will receive friends on Saturday between the hours of 1:00 & 2:00 PM at Hancock Funeral Home, and at other times at the family residence, 356 Cornwell Road. Born July 16, 1933 in Lee County, he was a son of the late Earnest Scott and Agnus Irene Smith Scott. Mr. Scott was a self-employed mechanic, and was of the Methodist faith. Survivors include two sons: Gregory Brent Scott and Tyre Downs Scott; five grandchildren: Pete Scott, Jr. (Kimberly), Jonathan Lamar Scott (Victoria), Gregory Brent Scott, Jr. (Michelle), Angie McGrother (Jason), and Megan Annette Scott; a daughter-in-law, Dianne H. Thomason; one brother, Ed Scott; four sisters: Lissie Partain, Annette Titshaw, Elizabeth Ivey, and Roxie Jo Brady; numerous great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces, including Shirley Bush. Mr. Scott was preceded in death by his loving wife, Annette Downs Scott; by a son, Pete Edward Scott; a brother, Kenneth Scott; and two sisters: Minnie Ott and Maddie Elder.
