Mrs. Lilian Frances Ada Pring Guillett, age 99, passed away very early Thursday morning, July 2, 2009, at her residence. A rosary service will be at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, July 3, at Hancock Funeral Home with a visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 4, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church with interment to follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Father Robert Girardeau will officiate. Active pallbearers will be Denny Borders, Michael Moore, David Moore, Tommy Clark, Chris Law, and David Mayo. Honorary pallbearers will include Thatcher Johnson, Terry Phillips, Tim Reynolds, Daniel Davis, Howard Hardison, Christopher Law, Donnie Price, John Moore, Clarke Mayo, and Daniel Godwin. Family members suggest that memorial contributions be made to the renovation fund at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 332 South Lee Street, Americus, GA 31709. Born December 18, 1909, in Newport, South Wales, in the United Kingdom, Mrs. Guillett was a daughter of the late John Henry “Jack” Pring and Mary Elizabeth Pickton Pring. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and enjoyed darts, bowling, and fishing. She worked as a civil service employee with the Royal Air Force of the United Kingdom during World War II. After coming to the United States, she worked in the dietary department at the local hospital in Americus, served as a manager at Phillips Industries, and owned and managed Joe’s Trailer Park on McMath Mill Road for a number of years. After she retired, she moved to North Fort Myers, Florida, where she taught ballroom dancing to senior adults. In 1998, she returned to Americus to live and continued to enjoy dancing until about two years ago. A 2009 Mother’s Day article in the Americus Times-Recorder featured Mrs. Guillett and representatives of four other generations of her family. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Julia Mary Collins Toms of Americus and Mrs. Frances Ann Collins Evans of Newport, South Wales, U.K.; eight grand-children, including Julia Ann Hardison and her husband, Howard, of Byron, Cathy Clark of Americus, Linda Moore and her husband, John, of Hanahan, SC, Monica Toms of Punta Gorda, FL, and four who reside in the United Kingdom; many great grandchildren, great, great grandchildren, one great, great, great granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews. Three husbands, Peter Collins, Michael Finn, and Joseph Guillett, preceded her in death. Hancock Funeral Home, 427 South Lee Street, Americus, GA, is in charge of arrangements.
