United States Army Veteran Eddie Clyde Harris, age 69, passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2016, at Ralph H. Johnson V A Medical Center in Charleston, SC. Funeral services with military honors are planned for 2:00 PM on Friday, October 14, from the committal pavilion at Andersonville National Historic Site. Pastor Larry Sims will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, October 13, between the hours of 6:00 & 7:00 PM at Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St., and at other times at the home of Jennifer Harris-Wright, 812 Kings Way in Americus. Born May 19, 1947 in Laurel, Florida, he was a son of the late George and Freddie Lee Harris. At an early age, Eddie joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church. After the passing of his parents, he was reared by the late Rev. Joseph & Mrs. Mollie Baldwin. Eddie received his education in public schools of Sumter County and as an Americus High School graduate in the class of 1965. After graduation, Eddie joined the United States Army where he served as a Medic during the Vietnam War. He was preceded in death by three brothers: Veteran Robert B. Harris, Joseph Smith, and Alvin Hanner; and by a great-nephew, James Darron Fuller, Sr. He leaves to cherish his memories: his daughter Jennifer Ann Harris-Wright (Calvin) of Americus; his five beloved grandchildren: Nykeria Wright, Calvin Wright, III, Tatelin Wright, Caleb Wright, and Joshua Wright, all of Americus; four loving sisters: Mrs. Goldie Burts (Clarence), Mrs. Annie Bell Moss (Charles), Ms. Josephine Harris, all of Americus, and Ms. Georgia Harris of Charleston, SC. His extended family includes Mr. Robert Baldwin & Ms. LuEddie Baldwin of Florida and Mr. Joseph Baldwin of Charleston, SC; his nieces and nephews: Thaddeus Harris (Leola), William A. Fuller, Jr., Kerrie Fuller, Patricia Wilson-Rogers (Michael), Tellis Burts (Stephanie), Jimmy Jones, Jr. (Erika), Owen Jones, Sheba Jones, Linda Jones, and Kizzy Eke.
