Mr. Carlton H. Wise, age 91, passed away on Monday, November 7, 2016, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. Funeral services with military honors are planned for 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 9, in the committal pavilion at Andersonville National Historic Site with Rev. Charles Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Andersonville National Cemetery. The following gentlemen are asked to serve as pallbearers: Harold Robertson, Bill Ricketts, Andrew Marsh, and David Tyler. Masons and Shriners are asked to serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 12:30 until 1:30 PM at Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St. A native of Plains, he was born November 2, 1925, a son of the late Walter James Wise and Myrtle Ruth Crawford Wise. Mr. Wise was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was retired from CSX Railroad, was a Mason and a Shriner, and was a member of Plains Lutheran Church. He is survived by his sister, Mildred Wise of Plains; and several nieces & nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews, including Brenda & Harold Robertson, Cheryle & Bobby McCrary, and Bill & Helen Ricketts, all of Plains, and Jerry & Carolyn Wise of Hartwell, GA.
