Barbara Ann Galloway Reddish

Mrs. Barbara Ann Galloway Reddish, age 88, passed away early Monday morning, January 2, 2017, at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center. Funeral services are planned for 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 4, from the graveside at Oak Grove Cemetery. Rev. Bill Dupree will officiate. Friends may call for a short time following the funeral services on Wednesday at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to The League of the Good Samaritan, c/o Magnolia Manor, 2001 S. Lee St., Americus, GA 31709; or to the Building Fund at Central Baptist Church, 190 Upper River Road, Americus, GA 31709. Born June 29, 1928 in Monroe, NC, she was a daughter of the late Robert Galloway and the late Lillian Stack Galloway Fort. Mrs. Reddish was a graduate of Longwood University, and held several professional roles, the longest of which as as a social worker with the Department of Family and Children's Services. An avid golfer, Mrs. Reddish also enjoyed playing bridge and loved keeping her grandchildren. She was a member of Central Baptist Church, and had attended First United Methodist Church for a number of years. Mrs. Reddish was a resident of Perfect Care for ten years (2006-2016), as long as her health permitted. She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband, James Russell "Rusty" Reddish, and by her sister, Lillian Michaelson. Survivors include two daughters: Carol Shiver (Johnny) and Barbara Pityer (Mickey), all of Americus; one son, Robert Russell Reddish of Little Rock, AR; five grandchildren: Todd Pityer (Mandy), Shelley Wade (Andrew), and Ben Pityer, all of Atlanta; Will Shiver (Jayne) of Charleston, SC, and Wade Shiver (Tess) of Leesburg; four great-grandchildren: Lydia Ann Wade, Mary Glenn Wade, Reid Shiver, and Tatum Shiver; and several nieces and nephews.
