Lee St. Everette was born in Webster County, Georgia, a son of the late Mark Arrington Chambliss and Melba Chambliss. At a young age he moved to Plains, and stayed there until his graduation from high school. He then began a career in construction, mining, and heavy equipment. He lived in Kentucky, Minnesota, Iowa, North Carolina, Ohio, and Birmingham, AL. Upon completion of his career, he returned to Plains and Southwest Georgia where he pursued his true passion - horses. He loved to ride, train, and generally talk about horses and mules. He especially enjoyed the opportunities he had to take kids for rides on his various carts and wagons, and to drive Santa in various parades. He would go on quail hunts, but his pleasure there was not the hunting, but driving the mules. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Wynelle Hinson Chambliss. He is survived by his children: John Chambliss (Fletcher), Mark Chambliss (Kaye), and Everette Lunsford Chambliss, Jr. (Maha); his grandchildren: T Everette Lunsford Chambliss (Ashley), Mary Elizabeth Chambliss, Carr Chambliss, and Mark Chambliss. For those wishing to do so, memorial contributions are suggested to Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Homes, P.O. Box 1000, Stockbridge, GA 30281.
