Mrs. Carol K. Vaughan, age 62, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on Sunday afternoon, March 12, 2017, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center, with her family by her side. Funeral services are planned for 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 15, at Calvary Baptist Church. Rev. William Hall and Rev. Richard Chalk will officiate. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, March 14, between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 PM, at Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St. A native of Americus, she was born June 26, 1954, a daughter of the late Bud Kelley and Nena Bradley Kelley, who survives her. Survivors, in addition to her mother, include her husband, Jerry Vaughan; three sons: Blaine Vaughan (Amanda), Justin Vaughan, and Jamey Vaughan (Nicole); five grandchildren: Kendall, Aiden, JoAnnah, Rachel, and Brookins; three sisters: Linda Trussell (Larry), Janis Lacy (Lane), and Debbie Philmon (Russell); and many nieces and nephews. Carol was a devoted caregiver and home maker, enjoying canning and reading romance novels. She loved candy and always had some in her pocket. She was a real people person and enjoyed music, especially oldies and gospel. Dearest to her heart were her grandchildren.
