Malcom "Mac" Roberts

Mr. Malcom "Mac" Roberts, age 69, passed away in Albany on Wednesday morning, March 22, 2017, after a long, hard-fought battle with cancer. Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 25, from the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St. Rev. Rusty Mauldin will officiate. The family will receive friends on Friday evening, March 24, at Hancock Funeral Home, between the hours of 6:00 & 8:00 PM, and at other times at the family residence. A native of Sumter County, he was born May 25, 1947, a son of the late Edgar Roberts and Rena Belle Hart Roberts. Mac was a self-employed paint contractor. Along with his wife Sheryl, he owned and operated Economy Homeworks. He was of the Baptist faith, and was a former member of Americus Lodge No. 1895 Loyal Order of Moose. A lover of the outdoors, he enjoyed fishing, barbecuing, and cooking. He loved to share food he had cooked with others. Survivors include his wife, Sheryl Lynn Johnson Roberts of Americus; step-sons: Eric Pierson (Priscila) of Orlando, FL, Michael Pierson (Dena) of Virginia Beach, VA; and Kevin Pierson (Jennifer) of Americus; grandchildren: Carley Waite, Amber Pierson, and Sydney Pierson of Virginia Beach, Caitlin Pierson and Dylan Pierson of Orlando, FL, and Jon Robert Pierson of Americus; one sister, Josephine Polk of Americus; and a number of nieces and nephews, including Terrence Polk (Pat) of Mableton, and Shelby Polk (Sharan), Ronald Polk (Michelle), and Connie Roberts Forsyth, all of Americus.
