Mr. Walter "Walt" Carl Thomas, age 84, passed away at his home in Castro Valley, California, on Wednesday, March 22, 2017. Funeral services are planned for 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 1, at Plains Baptist Church with Rev. Buck Kinney officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Lebanon Cemetery in Plains. Born in Plains, he was the son of the late William L. and Allie Maude Thomas. Walt joined the Navy in 1952, moving to California, and graduating from the University of California Berkeley with a Master of Science in 1965. He spent many years as the founder and president of his computer consulting business, and for the last 25 years he had served the community of Hayward, Castro Valley, and the surrounding areas with ADTECH Tax and Payroll. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Wilcox and Anne M. Floyd, and by his brother, John L. Thomas. He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Thomas Schofield; partner Clara Flores; brothers: William Jr. Thomas and Bill Thomas; and by extended family in California, South Georgia, and on the East Coast.
