Mrs. Lois M. Davis, 89, 124 Lois Lane, Americus, passed away at her home on Tues-day afternoon, September 1, 2009. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 3, in the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home with Minister Jim Allen officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers will be Todd Davis, Jason Davis, Jesse Dean, Josh Dean, Devin Gordon, James Etheridge, Paul Etheridge, and Dusty Rees. Those who will serve as honorary pallbearers include Jimmy Etheridge, Timmy Etheridge, Joey Fountain, Robbie Fountain, Ken Johnson, Cari Rees, Jenny Lou Davis, and Crystal Davis. Born March 10, 1920, in Jones County, Mrs. Davis was a daughter of the late James Howard Miller and Lula Pearl Miller. She was a devoted homemaker and was associated with her husband in the operation of King’s Inn Restaurant for many years. She was a member of the Americus Church of Christ on Highway 30. The family received friends at Hancock Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 2. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Americus and Sumter County, P. O. Box 1434, Americus, GA 31709, or to any favorite charity. Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Sandra and Buddy Dean and Ginny Gordon, all of Americus, and Joy and Kenneth Johnson of Conyers; two sons and a daughter-in-law, James Davis, Jr. and Tommy and Elaine Davis, all of Americus; a sister, Thelma Davis of Gray; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Gerald and Joyce Miller of Milledgeville and Gene and Kelly Miller of Gray; 13 grandchildren; 31 great grand-children; 4 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Davis, Sr. in 1988 and by a daughter, Gloria Davis Penn in 1999. Hancock Funeral Home, 427 South Lee Street, Americus, GA, is in charge of arrangements.
