Mr. Jonathan Drake, 21, 269 Indian Road, died on Tuesday afternoon, September 1, following injuries he sustained in an automobile accident. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 4, in Oak Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Allan Purtill officiating. The family will receive friends at Hancock Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Born August 24, 1988, in Sumter County, he was a son of Charles Edward Drake, Jr. and Rebecca Norton, both of whom survive. Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his long-time companion, Heather Polk of Americus; three brothers, James Bowden of Columbus, Marty Bowden of Americus, and Matthew Drake and his wife Karen of Americus; grandfathers F. D. “Square” Norton and Charles Drake and his wife Donna, all of Americus; an aunt, Beth Bowden and husband John of Americus; an uncle, Donnie Norton and wife Susan of Bronwood; a great aunt, Bess Speer of Americus; cousins John Norton of Americus and Eli Norton of Bronwood; two nieces, Samantha Bowden and Carmen Bowden, and a nephew, Zack Drake, all of Americus. He was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Martha R. Norton and Betty Drake and by his great grandmother, Mattie Will McLeod.
