Hugh Dorsey Collins, Jr.

Mr. Hugh Dorsey Collins, Jr., age 65, passed away on Wednesday morning, April 19, 2017, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. Funeral services are planned for 11:00 AM on Friday, April 21, from the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St., with Rev. Jerry Roe officiating. Burial is to follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, April 20, between the hours of 6:00 & 8:00 PM. Born December 29, 1951, he was a son of the late Hugh Dorsey Collins and Rheba Dailey Collins. Mr. Collins was a hard working father and was of the Baptist faith. He was retired after 35 years as an upholsterer in the Americus area, most recently having worked with Caravelle Boats. Survivors include his wife, JoAnn Dorman Collins of Americus; two sons: Thomas Dorsey Collins and Brian Hugh Collins, both of Americus; one brother, Donnie Collins (Mary Sue) of Americus; three sisters: Charlotte McLeroy and Brenda Sullivan, both of Americus, and Donna Goodin (Joe) of Smithville; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and by one brother, Charles Halley. For those wishing to do so, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O.
