Mr. Jackson Russell Autry, Sr. passed away on Sunday morning, May 28, 2017, at his home at Magnolia Manor. Funeral services with military honors are planned for 2:00 PM on Thursday, June 1, from the committal pavilion at Andersonville National Historic Site, with Dr. Bryan Myers officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday between the hours of 1:00 and 1:30 PM at Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St. A native of Schley County, he was a son of the late James Russell Autry and Emma Mae Holloway Autry. A member of Central Baptist Church, Mr. Autry was a retired United States Postal Service Clerk, and was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. We was a World War II United States Army Air Force veteran, having achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Lillian Johnson Autry. Survivors include one son, Jackson Russell "Rusty" Autry, Jr. and his wife Pam of Tifton; two grandchildren: Ashley Autry Batts and her husband Jesse of Adel, and Travis Russell Autry of Tuscaloosa, AL; two great-grandsons: Asher Batts and Noah Batts, both of Adel; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, it was Mr. Autry's wish that memorial contributions be made to Central Baptist Church, 190 Upper River Road, Americus, GA 31709.
