Mr. Ernest L. Holloway, age 84, 907 Elmo Street, Americus, died Friday morning, September 18, 2009, at his residence. A visitation will be held on Monday, September 21, from 7:00 until 9:00 PM at Hancock Funeral Home, 427 South Lee Street. Funeral services are planned for 10:00 AM on Tuesday, September 22, from the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Floral Memory Gardens in Albany at 1:30 PM. Rev. David Nance and Rev. Brooks Partain will officiate. Active pallbearers include Willie Barwick, Doug Toms, Oscar Harbuck, Todd Coe, Emory Huff, & Jonathan Wallace. Methodist men are asked to serve as honorary pallbearers. Providing music will be Angel Grey & Ricky Clay. Born February 28, 1925 in Schley County, GA, Mr. Holloway was a son of the late Lyman Lynward Holloway and Mary Willie Grantham Holloway. A World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, Mr. Holloway was a self-employed carpenter, a member of Lee Street United Methodist Church, and a member of the VFW and Woodmen of the World. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Farr Holloway, 2 daughters, Connie Nance & her husband Tommy of Leesburg and Patsy Price & her husband R.W. of Sylvester; 2 sons, Randy Holloway & his wife Judy of Idaho Falls, Idaho and Chuck Holloway of Albany; 1 step-son, Edward Eugene Farr; 2 sisters, Martha Allison and Katie Toms & her husband Paul, all of Americus; a brother, William B. Holloway & his wife Ruth of Albany; 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Holloway was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Elizabeth Brown, and 2 step-children, Mary Evelyn Johnson & Tony Farr.
