Mrs. Avolene E. Eyster, age 91, died Wednesday, September 23, 2009, at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center. There will be a visitation at Hancock Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday in the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home. Following the service, Mrs. Eyster will be cremated, and interment of the cremains will be in the Ellaville Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 27. Rev. Brooks Partain will officiate. Mrs. Eyster was born in Schley County on November 27, 1917, and had lived most of her adult life in Baltimore, MD where she worked as a supervisor for Atlantic South which is now Bell South. She enjoyed bowling, traveling, and being a spectator of her husband’s soccer games in which he played in the semi-pros. After retiring, she and her husband enjoyed living in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. She had been a resident of Magnolia Manor for 20 years and enjoyed the activities and the many friends she made. Mrs. Eyster is survived by a sister, Mrs. Estelle Lurwig of Canton; her nieces and nephews, Debra and Steve James and Donna and Richard Law, all of Leslie, Bobby and Dianna Jones of Gainesville, Jo Jones of Americus, Kay New of Canton, Joy and Jane Lurwig, Linda and Stephen Saunders, Karen and Don Giannattasio, all of Atlanta, and Steve and Leslie Sirbaugh of Jacksonville, FL; and several great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Eyster, a brother, Enwood Etheredge, sisters Adele E. Jones and Mauree Sirbaugh, and a nephew, Steve Jones.
