Ronald Carey LeSueur, age 73, passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at his home in Tallahassee, Florida. He was born on April 17, 1944 in Americus, Georgia and was the son of Robert Lawton LeSueur, Sr. and Bess Gardner Johnson LeSueur. Carey was a 1962 graduate of Americus High School. He attended the University of Georgia where he earned a Degree in Journalism. He was a Mensa Scholar. After completing his undergraduate degree, Carey earned a law degree from Mercer University School of Law and was admitted to the Bar in 1973. After serving as an Assistant District Attorney for the Southwestern Jucicial Circuit in Americus, Georgia, Carey practiced law in Columbus, Georgia for the majority of his career. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1969, and was stationed in Germany where he served honorably in the 68th Armored Regiment. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Americus, Georgia. Carey was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Robert Lawton LeSueur, Jr. and Laurence Jordan LeSueur. Survivors include his sister, JoAnn LeSueur Chappell of Americus; a sister-in-law, Claudia Sims LeSueur of Atlanta; and a number of cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 29, at 5:00 PM at Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St., with Rev. Keith Parks officiating. Honorary pallbearers include: George Hooks, Ed Tharpe, Don Peters, John Shiver, Steve Arrington, Bill Forehand, John Grady Long, Bobby Robinson, Tommy Pratt, Joe Hooks, and Rusty Zimmerman.
