H. B. "Bucky" Carlton

Mr. H. B. "Bucky" Carlton, age 78, passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2017, at his home in Birmingham, AL. Funeral services are planned for 3:00 PM CST on Saturday, August 12, at Liberty Church in Birmingham. The family will receive friends on Saturday at the church, between the hours of 2:00 & 3:00 PM. Pastor Bruce Terry will officiate. Burial will follow on Sunday, August 13, at 2:00 PM EST in Oak Grove Cemetery in Americus, GA. Born January 22, 1939 in Moultrie, GA, he was a son of the late James Franklin Carlton and Carrie Dell Taylor Carlton. He was a music teacher at Colquitt County High School in Moultrie, GA and a pastor at Liberty Church in Birmingham. He held a Masters of Science in Music Education from Georgia Southern College and a Doctor of Ministry from Christian Life School of Theology. Survivors include his wife, Mildred Edwards Horne Carlton; one son, Tom Carlton (Lisa); three daughters: Fran Horn, Martha Grooms (William), and Carrie Mullins (Scott); two brothers: James Carlton and Gene Carlton; four sisters: Helen Peacock, Edith Murphy, Rebecca Evans, and Mary Diver; and eight grandchildren.
