Mrs. Marianne Cranford Stevens, age 91, passed away on Wednesday morning, August 23, 2017, at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center. Funeral services are planned for 11:00 AM on Friday, August 25, in the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St., with Rev. Keith Parks officiating. Private interment will follow in Lebanon Cemetery in Plains. The family will receive friends on Friday at the funeral home beginning at 10:30 AM. Born May 21, 1926 in Plains, she was a daughter of the late Luther James Cranford and Mary William Hagerson Cranford. Mrs. Stevens was a member of First Baptist Church of Americus, where she played the piano for Church and Sunday School, as long as her health permitted. She enjoyed playing golf and she loved her friends. She worked as a bank teller early in her adult life, and was retired as a registration clerk at South Georgia Technical College. She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, Richard "Dick" Stevens; and by her sister, Elizabeth Carter. Survivors include her niece and nephews: James Carter, Debbie Woods, and Charles Carter; and two great-nieces.
