Charlie Shelton Dorman, Jr., born November 25th, 1919, was a native and lifetime resident of Americus, the son of the late Charlie S. Dorman Sr. and the late Monette Williams Dorman. He was self-employed in the real estate business, and was a salesman. He passed away on Sunday, October 11, and graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Rev. Brooks Partain will officiate. The family will receive friends at Hancock Funeral Home from 7:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 13. Family members suggest that memorial contributions be made to the League of the Good Samaritan, 2001 South Lee Street, Americus, GA 31709. Mr. Dorman was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Americus since 1928, and was very active in his church until his health declined, having served as a Sunday School Superintendent and a member of the Official Board for a number of years. He was a graduate of Americus High School and Georgia Southwestern College, and attended Emory University. He was also a member of the Woodmen of the World, and was a mason, and past master of Lodge #95 which is now Lodge #13. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Navy. He is survived by his wife, Nell Law Dorman of Americus; a daughter, Linda and son-in-law Marty Eusner of Lawrenceville, GA; a sister, Monette Tatum of Marietta, GA; two granddaughters, Jennifer Eusner and Angela Ryan and her husband Randy Ryan of Aiken, SC; four great grandchildren, Asheton, Weston, and Kristen and Fallon Ryan of Aiken, SC. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Hilda Dorman Delionbach and a sister, Jean Dorman Sears. Hancock Funeral Home, 427 South Lee St., Americus, GA, is in charge of arrangements.
