Mrs. Kathryn Frances Freeman Maginnis, of Plains, passed away on November 19, 2017 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 24 in the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home on South Lee Street, with Rev. Joy Wilson officiating. A short visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:30 until the funeral hour. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Jeff Strief, Matt Strief, John Frank Freeman, III, Matthew Freeman, Don Parkhurst, Dan Strief, Scott Ivey, and Mitch Cohen. Lee St., Americus, GA 31709. A native of Americus, she was born August 30, 1930, the daughter of the late John Frank Freeman and the late Bertha Kate Johnston Freeman. Survivors include two daughters: Lee Strief (Jeff) and Colleen Parkhurst; one brother, Frank Freeman, Jr. (Jennie); grandchildren: Matthew Strief (Britt), Kristin Strief, Daniel Strief, Kate Sheppard (Chris), Emily DuRant, and Susannah DuRant; great-grandchildren: Hannah Sheppard, Maddox Sheppard, and Baby Strief coming soon; and two nephews: Frank Freeman, III and Matthew Freeman. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her brother, A. Fred Freeman.
