Mrs. Lois Cordell Rumph passed away on November 20, 2017. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home on South Lee Street on Wednesday, November 22, at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Hugh DeLoach officiating. Interment will be private. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until funeral time at Hancock Funeral Home, 427 South Lee Street. Mrs. Rumph, a native and life-long resident of Americus, was born April 30, 1926, a daughter of the late Leslie Cordell and Jeanette A. Cordell. She was a member of Central Baptist Church and a former member of the Martha Marshall Sunday School Class and the Women's Missionary Union. She retired as a Sales Clerk in 1984. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Ralph G. Rumph, Jr. and Nancy of Albany; three grandsons, Thomas G. Rumph and Spencer C. Rumph of Albany and Joseph A. McIlwrath; and a step-granddaughter, Tracy, of Leesburg. She was preceeded in death by her husband, Ralph G. Rumph, Sr.; a daughter, Mrs. Nancy R. McIlwrath; two sisters, Mrs. Jean C. Worthy and Mrs. Irene C. Jordan; and three brothers, J. E. Cordell, Sr. R. L. Cordell, and Horace E. Cordell. Memorial contributions may be made to the Central Baptist Church Building Fund, 190 Upper River Road, Americus, GA 31709, or to Perfect Care, 114 Sullivan Drive, Americus, GA 31709.
