Mrs. Christine Williams, 61, 308 West Church Street, died on Monday afternoon, December 21. Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, December 23, at First United Methodist Church, with Mr. John Carroll and Rev. Jim Smith officiating. The family will receive friends at Hancock Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, December 22. Born November 7, 1948, in Sumter County, she was a daughter of Mrs. Rosa Lee Crumpton Manning, who survives her, and the late Cleveland Manning. Survivors, in addition to her mother, include two daughters and sons-in-law, Sherrin Williams Mira (& Jeff) of Eufaula, AL, and Selinn Williams Legg (& Mike) of Americus; a sister and brother-in-law, Irene M. and Deke Walker of Americus; nephews Tal Walker, Kai Walker, and Micah Walker, and a niece, Tabatha Peshel. Her son, Curtis Ray Williams, Jr., passed away on October 3, 2005. Mrs. Williams was retired from the Gertrude Davenport division of the Tog Shop, working first in furniture, and in later years in clothing. She was a charter member of the Order of the Confederate Rose, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Americus. She was in charge of the concession stand at Southland Academy for girls’ softball and boys’ baseball games, and was also in charge of the concession stand for the summer girls’ softball league.
