Mr. Thomas Lester “Tommy” Pilcher, 60, of Americus, passed away early Wednesday morning, February 3, at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. Born April 1, 1949, in Sumter County, Mr. Pilcher was a son of the late Robert Lee and Edith Amerson Pilcher. He was employed as a manager for Planters Hardware in Americus until his early retirement. Mr. Pilcher was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, fishing, playing with his tractors and cows, and "just piddling." Survivors include his wife, Linda Chavers Pilcher of Americus; 1 daughter, Wendy Winters & her husband Adam of Americus; 2 sons, Freddie M. Pilcher & his wife Mindy, and Bobby E. Pilcher & his wife Kim, all of Americus; 4 sisters, Patricia Thornrose & her husband Butch, Linda Easom & her husband George, Sue Pilcher, & Debbie Pilcher, all of Americus; 1 brother, Sammy Lee Pilcher & his wife Mary-Nan of Ellaville; 2 sisters-in-law, Pat Conger & her husband James of Plains, & Sue Gilbert of Panama City, FL; and grandchildren, Brandon Ray, Lyndsie Pilcher, Patrick Pilcher, Morgan Pilcher, Katie Winters, A.J. Winters, & Wyatt Winters. He was preceded in death by a brother & sister-in-law, Bob & Amelia Pilcher. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 6, at Shiloh Baptist Church. Rev. Hugh Harbort and Rev. Raymond Smith will officiate, with Kenny & Pam Phillips providing music. Interment will follow in Ellaville Cemetery. A visitation will be held Friday night, February 5, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Hancock Funeral Home. Hancock Funeral Home, 427 South Lee Street, Americus, is in charge of arrangements.
