Mrs. Betty Morris Giese, 69, passed away on Saturday morning, February 13, 2010 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center. Memorial services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 15, in the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home with the Rev. Wendy Joyner officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for an hour preceding the service. The interment will be private. An American Indian, she was born on September 24, 1940, in Winston, Mississippi, a daughter of the late Houston Morris and Bertha Steed Morris. She was a homemaker who loved to fish and was such a puzzle enthusiast that she was known as the “Puzzle Lady” at Magnolia Manor. The family requests that memorial contributions be directed to Hospice of Americus & Sumter County, P. O. Box 1434, Americus, GA 31709. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Rhonda and Larry Banks of Americus, and Robin and Joey Casteel of Lizella; a son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Del Burks of Dover, Delaware; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Charlie and Elisa Morris of Elk Grove, CA and Allen and Doris Morris of Cordele; six grandchildren, Meredith Owen, Travis Banks, Colby Collins, Shawni Casteel, Chris Burks, and Kayla Burks; and three great grandchildren, Preslee, Bailey, and Elijah. She was preceded in death by five brothers. Hancock Funeral Home, 427 South Lee Street, Americus, GA, is in charge of arrangements.
