Mrs. Bonnie M. Brown, 89, a resident of Magnolia Manor since June 6, 1989, died very unexpectedly on Friday evening, February 19, 2010. Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 21, in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Mill Simmons officiating. Born November 10, 1920, in Toccoa, Mrs. Brown was a daughter of the late George Washington Minyard and Ida Florence Wall Minyard. She was a resident of Habersham County for many years before moving to Americus. She was a very talented artist, and provided the displays and assisted with floral arrangements at the Manor as long as her health permitted. She was a former member of the Plains Baptist Church and Clarksville Baptist Church, and was a current member of the First Baptist Church of Americus. She was always very active in her church homes, teaching Sunday School, and assisting with sanctuary flowers. Mrs. Brown served as a receptionist, secretary, and bookkeeper for Dr. E. Waldemeyer in Plains for a number of years. Memorial contributions may be made to the League of the Good Samaritan, 2001 South Lee Street, Americus, GA 31709. Survivors include a special cousin, Birdie Moss of Clarksville, nieces and nephews, Betty and Buddy Stewart of Norman, OK, Cheri Flanagan of Cornelia, and Mike and Cathy Brown of Hamilton; and very special friends, Mill and Gloria Simmons of Plains. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted H. Brown. Hancock Funeral Home, Inc., 427 South Lee Street, Americus, GA, is in charge of arrangements.
