Mrs. Wilma Weeks Jones died at her residence on Tuesday, March 23, 2010. The family will receive friends at Central Baptist Church from 2:30 until 3:30 on Thursday, March 25, followed by the funeral service to begin at 4:00 p.m. Rev. Hugh DeLoach and Rev. Reid Wylie will officiate. Active pallbearers will include Rhett Jones, Lance Jones, Rob Jones, Jason Jones, Brandon Jones, and Bucky Clanton. Members of the Kathleen Gardner Sunday School class are requested to sit together for the service. Born on March 27, 1923, in Sumter County, Mrs. Jones was a daughter of the late Charles Russell Weeks, Sr. and Mrs. Elise Chappell Weeks. She was retired from Georgia Southwestern College where she was the secretary for the English Department. She was a very active member of Central Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Edwina and Dr. Tom Wylie of Americus; two sons and daughters-in-law, Chuck and Sheryl Jones of Columbus and James and Lisa Jones of Americus; a sister, Alice Clanton of Americus; two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Charlie and Betty Weeks and Wallace and Gloria Weeks, all of Niceville, FL, and Mrs. Winifred Jones Cason of Palatka, FL; grandchildren Jennifer and Mark Gibson of Peachtree City, Lance and Teriann Jones, and Rhett Jones, all of Columbus, Jason Jones of Nashville, TN, Rev. Reid and Jessica Wylie of Thomasville, Rob Jones, Kristi Jones, Brandon Jones, and Sarah Katherine Jones, all of Americus; step-grandchildren, Brad and Jenny Gleeson, Tiffany Gleeson, and Allen Gleeson, all of Americus; two great grandchildren, Camille Horne and Genie Horne, both of Peachtree City; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, C. R. “Bobby” Jones on September 17, 2001. Memorial contributions may be made to Central Baptist Church, 190 Upper River Road, Americus, GA 31709. Hancock Funeral Home, 427 South Lee Street, Americus, GA is in charge of arrangements.
