Mrs. Betty Deaver, 78, passed away at her home on Thursday night, April 22, 2010. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 27, in the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home with interment to follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Rev. Bill Dupree will officiate. Born October 16, 1931, in Iberia, Missouri, Mrs. Deaver was the youngest of seven daughters born to William Carroll Brumley and Camilla Gertrude Patterson Brumley. An avid gardener, she was a faithful member of the Azalea Garden Club. She was devoted to her children and grandchildren and was such an expert cook that family members saw life as it revolved around the table. The family will receive friends at Hancock Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 26. Family members suggest that memorial contributions might be sent to the American Cancer Society, c/o Mrs. Ann Harris, 1801 Rose Avenue, Americus, GA 31709 or to Hospice of Americus and Sumter County, P. O. Box 1434, Americus, GA 31709. Survivors include her husband with whom she celebrated their 60th anniversary on June 26, 2009, Bob Deaver, of Americus; two daughters, Pamela Deaver of Americus and Jayne Laughlin of Bakersfield, CA; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Bruce and Gail Deaver of Newnan, Alan and Deborah Deaver of Americus, and Robert Deaver of Americus; two sisters, Marguerite Stone of Eldon, Missouri, and Hazel Evans of Olney, Maryland; 11 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Ray Deaver, on September 6, 1980. Hancock Funeral Home, Americus, GA. 229-924-3645.
