Mrs. Martha Joan (Watts) Hakala, age 67, of Americus, passed away Thursday morning, May 13, 2010, at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center. A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 17, at 3:00 PM from the Chapel at Magnolia Manor. Rev. Don Adams will officiate. Friends are invited to visit with the family before and after the service. Born August 25, 1942, in Montrose, Colorado, Mrs. Hakala was a daughter of the late Everett Asa Watts and Frances E. Latshaw Carl, who survives her. She was an activities worker for Hilltop Life Adjustment Center in Grand Junction, Colorado. Mrs. Hakala spent her childhood in Durango, Colorado and most of her adult life in Grand Junction, Colorado, later moving to Georgia to be with her daughter. Survivors, in addition to her mother, include her husband, Phillip Hakala of Americus; two daughters, Jana Jackson & her husband Bob of Leesburg, GA, and Tina Dixon & her significant other David of Eugene, OR; two brothers, Neil Watts & his wife Roberta of Smithville, MO, and Ronald Watts & his wife Carolyn of Squaw Valley, CA; and two grandchildren, Sarah Jackson & Eli Jackson, both of Leesburg. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Watts.
