Mr. Jefferson Hardin “Bubba” Grant, 83, 1107 GA Hwy 49, North, Andersonville, passed away very early Thursday morning, May 27, 2010, in Palmyra Hospital in Albany. Graveside services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 30, in the Harden-Freeman Family Cemetery. Rev. Steven Golden, Mr. Muff Martin, and Rev. Mary Ann Braswell are asked to officiate. Those who are requested to serve as active pallbearers include Cole Hardin Grant, Jacob Tharpe Grant, Adam Alexander Deriso, Thomas Joshua Griggs, Fred Dennis, Rick Urash, Billy Hodges, and Virgil Wright. Asked to be honorary pallbearers are Bill Hurst, Richard Ballard, Ned Parker, Max Parker, Marty Evans, and Frankie Williams. The family will receive friends at the family residence, 1107 GA Hwy 49, North, Andersonville. Family members suggest that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Mrs. Ann Harris, 1801 Rose Avenue, Americus, GA 31709 or to the U. S. O., 3662 Victory Drive, Columbus, GA 31903. Born December 17, 1926, in Americus, Mr. Grant was a son of the late Tharpe Grant and Alma Izetta Hardin Grant. He served with the U. S. Navy during World War II as an electricians mate. He worked as a locomotive engineer with the Seaboard Coastline Railroad until his retirement in 1986. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Julia Grant Stanford and Ray Stanford of Andersonville; two sons and a daughter-in-law, David Grant, and Tharpe and Tina Grant, all of Andersonville; a brother and sister-in-law, Hamilton and Dorothy Grant of Titusville, FL; grandchildren, Cole Grant and Jacob Grant, both of Andersonville, Adam and April Deriso of Americus, and Amanda and Josh Griggs of Vienna; and one nephew, Ralph Grant of Titusville, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mildred Louise Adams Grant, and a sister, Harriett Grant Tharpe.
