Mrs. Mildred Hughes Holliday, 89, passed away early Tuesday morning, June 29, 2010, at Perfect Care. Born April 10, 1921, in Hamilton, GA, Mrs. Holliday was a daughter of the late Luther Dean Hughes and Ola Downs Hughes. She was the widow of James Roy "Pete" Holliday, who preceded her in death on January 19, 1996. Mrs. Holliday was a switchboard operator at Georgia Southwestern College and a member of Central Baptist Church where she was active in Sunday School and the Silvertones. Survivors include two daughters, Lynn Holliday of Americus and Darlene H. Messman of Rex; one son, Kenneth Holliday & his wife Elisa of Fayetteville; and grandchildren, Dean Norton & his wife Lainie of Marietta, Jeff Norton of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, Wade Norton of Americus, Brandon Holliday & Chad Holliday both of Fayetteville, Brandie Matthews & her husband Chad of Barnesville, and Kasey Howard & her husband Chuck of Jackson; and 9 great-grandchildren. Funeral services are planned for 2:00 PM Thursday, July 1, 2010, at Central Baptist Church, with interment to follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Rev. Hugh DeLoach will officiate. A visitation will be held Wednesday evening, June 30, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Hancock Funeral Home, and at other times friends may call at 302 Peggy Anne Drive. Memorial contributions may be made to Central Baptist Church Building Fund, 190 Upper River Road, Americus, GA 31709.
