Bettye Grace Rhyne

Bettye Grace Rhyne, 54, of 140 Lonnie Lane, Americus, passed away early Sunday morning, July 4, 2010, at Lillian G. Carter Health & Rehab Center in Plains. A celebration of life is planned for Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church in Americus, with Rev. Deb Bibler and Rev. Dave Omerod officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held Tuesday, July 6, 2010, from 6:00-7:00 PM at Hancock Funeral Home, 427 South Lee Street. Born September 13, 1955 in Raleigh, NC, Ms. Rhyne was the daughter of Dr. Claude Rhyne, Jr. of Americus who survives her, and the late Bettie Hill Tolson Rhyne. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she was a choir member. She loved music, Braves baseball, and anything to do with the University of Georgia. Ms. Rhyne attended schools in Brownsville, TX; Americus, GA; and Cedar Shoals at Athens Survivors, in addition to her father, include her daughter, Heather Marie Rhyne of Americus; 2 sisters, Portia Rhyne Menard & her husband Dr. Ralph Menard of Lubbock, TX; and Dr. Claudia Greene & her husband Dr. Michael Greene of Goleta, California; one brother, David Rhyne of Americus; one uncle, Dan Rhyne of Americus, & several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, and 2 brothers, Paul Rhyne & John Claude Rhyne. Memorial contributions may be made to the League of The Good Samaritan, 2001 South Lee Street, Americus, GA 31709. Hancock Funeral Home, 427 South Lee Street, is in charge of arrangements.
