Mrs. Norma Young Hooks, 79, of Americus, passed away at her home Saturday morning, July 24. Funeral services are planned for Sunday, July 25 at 4:00 PM, at First Methodist Church with Rev. Wendy Joyner and Rev. Jim Smith officiating. Visitation will be held at the church the hour before the service. There will be a private family interment in Fort Valley, GA. Born November 30, 1930 in Fort Valley, GA, Mrs. Hooks was a daughter of the late Abner Blakely Young and Lowie Cox Young. She was the widow of Thomas Bardin “Tommy” Hooks, III, who preceded her in death in 2001. Mrs. Hooks was a partner in the Windsor Art Gallery and a member of the First United Methodist Church where she was in the Epworth Sunday School class. She was a former member of the Green Thumb Garden Club. She was an avid golfer and a member of the Ladies’ Golf Association. Mrs. Hooks was an honorary member of the Junior Service League. Survivors include three daughters, Rebecca Bradley of Big Canoe, GA; Tommye Easterlin & her husband Ben of Atlanta; and Sue Bradley of Americus; one son, Jim Bradley & his wife Sonja of Lake Blackshear, eleven grandchildren: Jake Bivens, Kristin Haynie, Benjamin Easterlin, Bradley Easterlin, Lynde Pontius, Blake Smith, Leigh Reynolds, Lane Pope, Taylor Barksdale, Dillon Bradley, & Kason Bradley; and ten great-grandchildren.
