Mary Herndon Williams

Mrs. Mary Herndon Williams, 61, of Leslie, passed away Tuesday morning, August 17, 2010 at her residence. A daughter of the late William L. Herndon, Jr. and Elizabeth Holloway Herndon-Asaro (who survives her), Mrs. Williams was born June 12, 1949 in Americus. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, a volunteer for the Americus Blue Tide Swim Team, a home maker from 1970-1997, and Assistant 4H Director from 1997-2008. Survivors, in addition to her mother, include her husband of 40 years, Jesse Bernard Williams, Jr. of Leslie; two daughters, Elizabeth Ann James & her husband Jason, and Lindy Frances Williams; two sons, Jesse B. Williams, III and Andrew Daniel Williams, all of Athens; her sister, Martha Peavy & her husband Wendell of Sylvania; niece Lisa M. Lim of Hawaii; and nephew Stephen Peavy of Sylvania. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, August 20, 2010, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Lawrence Lucree officiating. Burial will follow at Andersonville National Cemetery. A rosary will be held at 6:00 PM Thursday, August 19, 2010, at Hancock Funeral Home, 427 South Lee Street, with a visitation to follow at 7:00 PM.
