Mr. Billy Edward Herrin, 77, passed away Monday morning, October 4, 2010, at his home in Plains. Born July 15, 1933 in Nahunta, GA, son of the late Dewey Herrin and Jewel Highsmith Herrin, Mr. Herron was a U.S. Navy veteran, a member of Grace Community Church and a self employed truck driver for Westside Trucking. Mr. Herrin is survived by his wife, Faye Herrin; daughter, Christy Landers & her husband Cliff; sons Johnny Weaver & his wife Wendy, Tony Weaver & his wife Pam, Tommy Herrin, and Clinton Herrin; 11 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Billy Herrin, Jr. and Dale Herrin. Funeral services are planned for Thursday, October 7, 2010, at 1:00 PM at Grace Community Church. Interment will follow in Andersonville National Cemetery. Pastor Steven Hill will officiate. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers: Curtis Landers, Ricky Weaver, Travis Weaver, Scott Landers, Taylor Watts, Chandler Watts, Keith Landers, and Tyler Weaver. A visitation will be held Wednesday night, October 6, 2010, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Hancock Funeral Home, 427 South Lee Street, Americus.
