Kay Hagerson Spann

Ms. Kay Hagerson Spann, 53, passed away on Sunday evening, October 24, in Perfect Care. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 26, in Concord United Methodist Church with interment to follow in the Hagerson Cemetery at Friendship. The Rev. Gary Page will officiate. A visitation will be held Monday night, October 25, between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 PM, at Hancock Funeral Home, 427 South Lee Street. Kay was born March 23, 1957, in Americus, Georgia to Milton and Betty Lou Hagerson, both of whom survive. She was a 1977 graduate of Southland Academy and was a member of Concord United Methodist Church, Americus. Kay worked in the medical field at Regional Eye Center, the office of Dr. Frank Catrett, Healthmaster and Care South of Columbus, Georgia. She retired due to her MS in 2000 from Sumter Bank and Trust Company in Americus. She loved spending time with her family and friends and especially enjoyed painting which she took up only during the last two years. She has decorated the walls at Perfect Care with her paintings. Survivors, in addition to her parents, include two sons and daughters-in-law, Chip and Penny Spann of Buena Vista and Chad and Tamara Spann of Colquitt; two grandchildren, Gabe Spann of Buena Vista and Kayden Spann of Colquitt; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Neil and Linda Hagerson of Americus and Boyd and Rene Hagerson of Plains; one niece, Tracey Hagerson, and four nephews, Chris Hagerson and Katy, Kevin Hagerson, Jody Hagerson, and Brad Hagerson; two great nieces, Emily and Darden Campbell and three great nephews, Greer and Hays Hagerson and Harper Hagerson; the father of her children, Chris Spann; two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Rhoda and Martin Peacock of Americus, and Sandi Spann of Atlanta. Other survivors include Joyce Spann, Clarice and Jimmy Crawford and their children Kelly and Kelley McKensie and Joseph and Karen Harville.
