Mrs. Alice Chaphe Alsobrook, 92, 0f 2001 South Lee Street, Americus, died Thursday morning, November 25, 2010. Mrs. Alsobrook was born December 10, 1917, in Detroit, Michigan, a daughter of the late Jerome Ernest Campbell and Alice Larabee Campbell. Her family subsequently moved to Whitehall, NY, where her father started a family heating & plumbing company. Mrs. Alsobrook is survived by her husband, Rev. W. Aubrey Alsobrook, of Americus. She was preceded in death in 1996 by her husband, Rev. C. Gordon Chaphe, and by a daughter, Nancy Flint, in 1999. Mrs. Alsobrook was educated in Whitehall, NY Public Schools, Green Mountain Junior College in Poultney, VT, & Asbury College in Wilmore, KY. She worked as a secretary & accountant through the years. She traveled to many foreign countries with her then Army Chaplain husband, Rev. Chaphe. She & Rev. Alsobrook were married in Americus, GA in 1997, and they have lived at Magnolia Manor. Mrs. Alsobrook was a member of First United Methodist Church of Americus. Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a daughter, Carol B. Chaphe of Saratoga Springs, NY; a son, Robert Chaphe & his wife Tina of Canton, GA; grandsons: Roderick Flint of California, Jason Flint of Connecticut, & Brett Chaphe of Schenectady, NY; granddaughters: Allison Chaphe of Schenectady, NY, & Christine Francisco of Delray Beach, FL; a sister, Esther Van Buskirk of Hampton, VA; & a step-daughter, Claire Replogle of St. Charles, IL. Four great-grandchildren also survive. Memorial services will be conducted on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at 2:00 PM in the Martha McDonald Moore Memorial Chapel at Magnolia Manor, Americus. Visitation will directly follow the service in the Magnolia Room at Magnolia Manor. Burial will be at a future date in Whitehall, Washington County, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the League of the Good Samaritan, 2001 South Lee Street, Americus, GA 31709.
