Elizabeth (Tibby) Knowles, 97, a resident of Americus since 1959, went to her eternal home before 5:00 a.m. Sunday, December 5. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Dec. 8 with visitation at Hancock Funeral Home from 11:00 am- 12:30 p.m. and a graveside service at 1:00p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Rev. Jerry Lillard officiating. Tibby was born Feb. 16, 1913. She was the wife of Bob Knowles (deceased) and is survived by her five children, Ann Johnson (B.T.)(Americus), Phil Knowles (Thomaston), Susan Morrison (Mike)(Baltimore), Robert Knowles (Nita)and Nancy Vickers (Larry)(Fayetteville, GA). She was also blessed with nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. For many years Tibby was an active member of the First Methodist Church, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and was involved with the Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts. She was lovingly known as the “Lunchroom Lady” and served Reese Park School in that role from 1962-1975. She was known to all for her beautiful smile and her gentle loving spirit. She loved to laugh, have fun and play bridge. She was a wonderful and dedicated mother, wife and friend. Tibby spent the last ten years at Perfect Care and her family would like to thank all the people who took such good loving care of her.
