Mr. Aaron T. Lowery, Sr., age 90, passed away on Friday, September 29, 2023 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany. Funeral services are planned for 2:00 PM on Monday, October 2, from the graveside at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery on Highway 280, with Dr. Bryan Myers officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:30 at the cemetery. Born September 3, 1933 in Vienna, he was a son of the late Ernest Franklin Lowery and the late Tommie Lee Riddle Lowery. A 1951 graduate of Americus High School, he served in the United States Air Force from June 12, 1951 until he was honorably discharged on June 11, 1955, having achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. Mr. Lowery was employed by the Seaboard Railroad, and was later Traffic Manager for 18 years for the Metalux Corporation/Cooper Lighting. He retired after 16 years as a sales representative for Clarklift of Albany. He was a faithful member and past master of M.B. Council Lodge No. 13, Free & Accepted Masons, a Shriner, a member of Al Sihah Shrine Temple in Macon, and past president of the Sumter Shrine Club, an active member in the York Rite Bodies, and enjoyed the fellowship in the Royal Order of Jesters. He was presently serving as the Director of the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army. Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Martha Heart Johnson Lowery; children: Skip Lowery (Teressa); Frank Lowery (Jane), grandchildren: Stevie Lowery, Angela Cain, Melissa Lowery, Brandon Lowery, Kristy Christian, and Evans Jones; great-grandchildren: Daniel Belcher, Mackenzie Belcher, Madelyn Yarbrough, Chandler Rucker, Hayden Rucker, Micah Rucker, Peighton Rucker, Wytherly Christian, Baxter Christian, Ansley Kate Lowery, and Raylee Lowery; brother Conrad Lowery; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters: Glenda Fay Lowery and Ernestine Scarbrough.
