Mrs. Alice Singletary Wanstall, age 91, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at her home in Americus. A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 29, between the hours of 4:00 and 6:00 PM at Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St. The staff of Hancock Funeral Home would like to issue a gentle reminder to all attendees that, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, reasonable social distancing must be maintained at all times, and the use of face masks is highly recommended. Born April 25, 1929, she was one of seven children born to the late Columbus Jefferson Singletary and the late Martha McCall. She was retired as radio operator from the Georgia State Patrol Post #10 in Americus, and was retired from the Sumter County Sheriff's Department where she was a primary TAC. She was an avid Ham Radio enthusiast, and was very proud of her Amateur Extra Class License, which is the highest Ham Radio level. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands: Willie Lee DeVane, Daniel Lynn McCord, Sr., and Charles Ellsworth Wanstall; her daughter, Mary Ann Tissue; her son, John Lewis McCord; two grandchildren: Freida Ann Bolton and James Edward Bolton; and her beloved fur baby Crickett. Survivors include her children: Daniel Lynn McCord, Jr. and Kimberly Wanstall Nutt (Samuel "James" Nutt, Jr.); grandchildren: James Frederick Bolton, II, Stephanie Renee McCord (Mike Powell), and Angela Bolton Diaz (Mariano Diaz); and several nieces and nephews.
