Brenda Rose Thompson, born April 13, 1941 in Jacksonville, Florida to Julius Craig Thompson and Blanche Rose Thompson, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2023 at the Magnolia Manor Nursing Home in Americus, Georgia. She was 82. Ms. Thompson, a native of Jacksonville, Florida, spent more than 30 years working as a bookkeeper for the city of Jacksonville. Over those years, Ms. Thompson travelled abroad, doted on her niece and nephew, enjoyed her friends and spent time with her family. In the 1990’s, she retired from the city of Jacksonville to take care of her mother full-time who had Alzheimer’s Disease. Later she moved to Americus to be closer to family members in Georgia. During her retirement, she started a small cleaning business and joined the Salem Methodist Church where she found many beloved friends. She loved her community and felt blessed by the friends she made during her time there. Ms. Thompson was very creative and painted beautiful paintings that she shared with friends and family. She truly cared for others and never hesitated to take care of any animal who crossed her path and needed help. Ms. Thompson was preceded in death by her father Julius Craig Thompson, mother Blanche Rose Thompson and brother John Craig Thompson. She is survived by her niece, Amy Thompson Peterzell (Scott Peterzell) of Atlanta; nephew Alex Thompson (Leah Thompson) of Charleston; and grandnieces and grandnephew, Zoe Peterzell, Griffin Peterzell, Leighton Thompson and Landry Thompson. A memorial service will be held on January 6, 2024 at 2:00 pm at the Salem United Methodist Church in Americus, Georgia.
