Cecil Janet Duff

Cecil Janet Duff, age 97, passed away Monday, November 20, 2023 in Plains, Ga. A visitation will be held Saturday, November 25, 2023 at Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee Street, from 12:30pm to 1:30pm. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held in the Chapel of Hancock Funeral Home at 2:00pm, officiated by Wendy Peacock. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Born May 27th, 1926 in Weirsdale Florida, but mainly raised in Sumter County Georgia, she was a daughter of the late David and Daisy Pennington. While living in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, Mrs. Cecil Duff was a very involved and active member of her church as well as the PTA. In Americus, Georgia she spent many years working at a local pharmacy. She loved flowers and spending time in her garden tending to her plants. Survivors include her son Richard Augustine Duff III (Dyan), grandson Matthew Forbes Pennington Duff (Honeylit), great-grand children Fiona Tehani Duff, Madeline Rose Duff, and grandson Ethan Winston Devoe Duff (Lindy); her daughter Janet Roach, granddaughter Heather Billings (Evester), great-grand children Skylar Billings and Harrison Billings, grandson David Roach (Kristin), great grandchildren Leeann Roach, Emma Gomez, Steven Bollinger, and great-great grandchild Clara Gomez; her daughter Elaine VanVlack, grandson Dennis VanVlack, great-grand children Devin and Brendon, and granddaughter Jennifer McKenzie; her son David Duff (Linda), granddaughter Cassandra Lowery and great-grandchild Ansley Lowery; her son James Duff, grandson James Duff, great-grandchildren Ryle Watson, Charley Jo, Legend, grandson Eric Duff (Kristina), great-grandchild Kyle Duff, grandchild Alexander Duff, and great-grandchild Alayah Duff; her daughter Barbara Harris (Brian), granddaughter Elaine Garcia, great-grandchildren Brianna Garcia, Austin Evans, Grace Ekkel, Declan Ekkel, Tristan Garcia, Brynn Coker, grandson William Harris (Myrna) and great-grandchildren Alexander, Matthew and Liam; her sister Barbara Howard, nephew Lee Howard (Janet), great-niece Shelby, niece Lynn Edmondson (Robbie), great-nephew Luke, and niece Lori Howard. Along with her parents, Mrs. Cecil is preceded in death by her husband, Richard A. Duff Jr., her sister, Irene Beasley, her brother, Phillip Pennington, and her grandson, Ryan Duff.
